Founded in 1996 by Molly Judge, Radcliffe Creek School emerged from a powerful belief: every child can succeed, especially those who learn differently. More than just an alternative to traditional education, Radcliffe Creek was designed to be a catalyst for potential, celebrating each student's strengths while strategically addressing areas like reading, writing, math, or social skills challenges.

For almost 30  years, this dedication to individualized, multi-sensory learning has been the driving force behind Radcliffe Creek's success. At its core is the nationally recognized Orton-Gillingham approach, a cornerstone of the school's reading program since its inception, which leverages visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile methods to build strong literacy skills. The school further enhances this foundation with small group instruction, speech and language therapy, and occupational therapy, all tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.

Radcliffe Creek serves a diverse range of learners, from students in grades K-8 (ages 5-14), attracting families from eight counties across Maryland and Delaware. The school's nurturing environment, characterized by small class sizes and a compassionate staff, empowers students to discover their potential and achieve academic and personal growth. Graduates have continued on to college, military service, and successful careers, with many crediting Radcliffe Creek for transforming their educational journeys.

Beyond the classroom, Radcliffe Creek fosters a deep connection to the environment. In 2006, the school collaborated with the Maryland Department of the Environment and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to transform a stormwater management pond into a thriving wetland, integrating it into the curriculum for hands-on learning. This commitment to environmental education reflects the school's holistic approach to developing well-rounded individuals. In 2025, Radcliffe Creek was also recognized as a Maryland Green School, further solidifying its commitment to sustainability and environmental education.

Driven by a passionate community of staff, parents, and supporters, Radcliffe Creek continues to thrive under dedicated leadership. Meg Bamford led the school as Head of School starting in 2018, until Peter Thayer was appointed as Head of School, and most recently, Dr. Jennifer Durham was selected as the new Head of School, beginning in July 2025. Radcliffe Creek's ongoing commitment to its students, innovative learning approaches, and strong community support ensure that it remains a beacon of hope and success for children who learn differently.
