Upcoming RPTC Event
Presented by Radcliffe Creek School’s Parent-Teacher Committee (PTC), this informative session dives into the “Parenting Paradox”—the surprising fact that when we try too hard to manage our children’s emotions for them, we accidentally stop them from growing their own. Dr. D will explain how to move away from “Moral Dependency”—where kids only behave to stay out of trouble—and toward true self-control.
You’ll learn the art of co-regulation: practical ways to stay calm so you can coach your child through a meltdown before, during, and after it happens. We will also look at what decades of research says is the most effective parenting style, and how to make it work for your specific family values and your child’s unique personality. Finally, we’ll discuss why it’s actually healthy for kids to take “emotional risks” and how routines can help them master their feelings. You’ll leave with a clear understanding of why teaching your child to manage their emotions is the most important skill you can give them.
