PROGRAMS

Little Creek features programs for children ages six weeks through pre-kindergarten with both nine-month and 12-month options. We also offer vacation and inclement weather care.

Our programs are play-based and experiential (see program description section). Physical, social, emotional, and cognitive growth are stimulated through hands-on, real life experiences. Developmentally-appropriate practice is the foundation of the curriculum and daily schedule planning. Phonological awareness, science, and math activities are important aspects of the program and are integrated throughout the day. Our staff support children so that they feel safe and secure, give them responsibility, model empathy and respect for others, and encourage them to explore and discover the world around them.

Services available through the K-8 program at Radcliffe Creek School, including speech and language and occupational therapy, are also available to those students in Little Creek.

Infant Classroom

Little Creek’s Infant Classroom strives to understand the unique and growing needs of each individual baby. We understand that infants grow and learn every day, so our program works to provides a safe and nurturing “home away from home” where infants can explore and make new discoveries each and every day. Our infant classroom currently serves children ages six weeks to two-years-old.

Our Infant Classroom incorporates the following features:

  • Nurturing, personal care that builds your infant’s self-esteem

  • Regular teacher-child interactions that spark curiosity and socialization

  • 1 to 3 child-to-teacher ratio

  • Playtime and experiences that help boost cognitive and motor skills

  • Daily walks and outside play time

  • Age-appropriate materials and equipment that support learning and development

  • Regular teacher-family communication, including daily updates to keep you informed

  • A safe daycare environment where your infant has the freedom to move and explore

  • Safe Sleep Guidelines that meet those of the American Academy of Pediatrics

Two's Classroom

As a child turns two, they enter the exploration stage and become curious. Our twos program offers the building blocks for each child to learn through language enrichment and multi-sensory, hands-on learning. Little Creek offers a warm and loving environment for each student. A variety of themes will be introduced each month and tied into a daily craft, readings, and music.

Our two year-old classroom also focuses on the child becoming self-sufficient by working on putting their shoes on, washing hands, getting dressed, and putting personal items in cubbies

Three's Classroom

Our three year-old classroom provides opportunities for children to learn to recognize letters, develop phonemic awareness, and explore through tactile experiences. Throughout the day, children use a variety of manipulative materials to explore and develop skills in math and phonemic readiness as well as fine-motor development.

Students participate in a letter (upper-case) and number of the week as well as the Handwriting Without Tears program for pre-schoolers. Our program is language and theme-based with the child at the center. Special programs during the week include music and library time.

Four's Classroom

Through many different themes, children in our four year-old, pre-kindergarten classroom prepare to enter, and succeed, in Kindergarten the following year. During each theme, the classroom's books, projects, games, and activities tie into the unit. Teachers also cover math, writing, phonemic awareness, science, and social studies in a  variety of methods throughout the year. At times, some themes will allow more focus of one subject area than others. In the fall, teachers begin both letter (upper and lower-case) and number of the week as well as a writing program, Handwriting Without Tears.

Students also begin work on simple sight words, as well as letter sounds. Living and physical science are part of the curriculum and specials programs during the week include music, library, Spanish, and French.
