Empowering Communication, Fostering Connection
Possessing strong language skills are the cornerstone of both academic achievement and vibrant social-emotional wellness. Our in-house Speech-Language Therapy program is dedicated to helping every student find their voice and build the confidence to communicate effectively in all aspects of life.
Our certified speech-language pathologist, Mrs. Malorie Martinez – a dedicated expert who has been helping children flourish at Radcliffe for over 28 years – provides individualized and small group support tailored to each student's unique needs. We address a range of challenges, including expressive language (what a child can communicate), receptive language (what they understand), auditory processing and memory, social pragmatics (social skills), and speech articulation and fluency.
The Benefits of Speech-Language Therapy
- Academic Excellence: By strengthening language skills, we help students better understand classroom instructions, participate confidently in discussions, comprehend reading materials, and express their knowledge effectively.
- Enhanced Social Connections: Developing strong communication and interaction skills allows students to build positive relationships with peers and adults, navigate social situations, and feel more connected to their community.
- Increased Self-Confidence: As students gain mastery over their communication, their self-esteem and willingness to engage in new experiences grow exponentially.
- A Neurodiversity-Affirming Approach: We embrace and celebrate neurodiversity, providing support and guidance in social communication within a neurodiversity-affirming environment. Our therapy focuses on building strengths and fostering authentic communication styles.
- Multi-Sensory Learning for Lasting Impact: We utilize multi-sensory instruction, incorporating visual, auditory, and kinesthetic techniques, to make learning engaging and effective for every student's unique style. This strengthens memory pathways and enhances retention.
Integrated Support for a Seamless Experience
Our speech-language pathologist collaborates closely with classroom teachers to embed language-rich lessons and auditory processing/listening skill practice directly into the academic curriculum. This invaluable time ensures students receive instruction and guided practice in utilizing speech-language skills and strategies within the academic classroom, providing accommodations for auditory processing and memory difficulties.
At Radcliffe Creek School, your child's communication journey is our priority. We are committed to providing the specialized support and nurturing environment needed to help them blossom into confident and effective communicators.
