Carolyn Thompson

Director of Advancement

Carolyn Thompson joined the Radcliffe Creek Community in November of 2023 as our director of advancement. Ms. Thompson brings a wealth of experience and a deep connection to Radcliffe through her unique journey as a parent and advocate for education.

Originally from Baltimore, MD, Ms. Thompson discovered her love for Chestertown in 1994 during her years at Washington College, where she earned a BA in Psychology with a minor in Anthropology. She furthered her education at Notre Dame of Maryland University, obtaining an MA in Nonprofit Management. She has taken various roles in her 25-year nonprofit career, including program management, event coordinator, communications and fundraising.

Ms. Thompson's path to becoming a director of advancement was shaped by her role as a parent to Finn, a current RCS student. Over the past eight years, she has witnessed the transformative power of the Radcliffe community in her son's life. Facing challenges with dyslexia, Finn not only overcame hurdles but excelled in reading, thanks to the dedicated teaching team at RCS. Inspired by this experience, Ms. Thompson is now driven to contribute her skills and experience to ensure that RCS continues to thrive.

Outside of work and motherhood, she enjoys coming home to a lively household filled with two dogs, two cats, a bunny, and seven chickens. Family adventures, exploring parks, traveling, and spending time at their favorite spot on the Potomac River in West Virginia are some of her favorite activities.

While being a mom remains her highest honor, Ms. Thompson has also achieved recognition in the world of photography! Some of her photos have graced the pages of People Magazine and adorned the covers of other publications. Her camera is a constant companion, allowing her to freeze moments in time and appreciate the wonders of life.

Radcliffe is excited to welcome Carolyn Thompson to our team, confident that her passion for education and commitment to RCS's success will elevate our community to new heights.
